Ah Fall! It’s my favorite time of year. Summer vacations are over, kids are back in school, college football is in full swing and the air has finally turned cool and crisp. I always look at the changing of seasons as a way to start fresh, to do those things that I’ve been saying I’ve wanted to do for the past 4 months but never got around to. This change in season is no different.
As we transition from summer to fall I would like to take this opportunity to challenge you to do the same. Now is the perfect time to get involved as there are a number of new and continuing events happen in our beautiful city! Here are a few events coming up this fall that require nothing more than you showing up, meeting a few people and have a fun night out celebrating architecture & design…
ACAD (Associate’s Committee of AIA Denver) –
ACAD has been going strong all summer long but in case you’ve missed out there are still more opportunities for you to participate this fall. The next ACAD meeting is Thursday, September 29th at 5:30pm. This meeting will be held at the offices of RNL (1050 17th Street Suite A200, Denver CO 80265) and is free! A Mock Interview is planned to learn what not to do while interviewing for a position in an architecture firm. Principals from local Denver firms will be acting as the interviewees in this mock interview setting. Big laughs will be had I’m sure so don’t miss out on this great event! For more information contact Cara Hlad (firstname.lastname@example.org) or the AIA Colorado office.
UC Denver Fall Lecture Series –
Each year the UC Denver College of Architecture & Planning puts on a Lecture Series for the public. If you haven’t been to any lectures in the past, I encourage you to do so this year. Most lectures start at 6:00pm, are located at the CU Denver Building (1250 14th Street, Denver CO) and are free. For more information and to see the schedule please visit the CU Denver College of Architecture & Planning website www.CAP.ucdenver.edu
Architecture + Design Film Series –
Another great series brought to you by the UC Denver College of Architecture & Planning happening right now! There are 4 more films being shown before the series comes to an end. The next film, Space Land and Time: Underground Adventures with Ant Farm, will be showing this Saturday, September 24 @ 2:00 pm at the Denver Film Center. So fellow designers break out those hoodies, dig out your Broncos foam finger, fill those crockpots with some delicious soups and get involved! I look forward to seeing everyone at these great events!
Happy First Day of Fall!!!
